Restored Automotive
Batteries
An automotive battery is used
primarily to start the
engine of an automobile. The main criteria is high cold cranking amps
- thin plates for large surface area fo produce
electrons. Not designed to discharge beyond 20% of capacity.
Our restored batteries are
fully desulphated
and reconditioned befrore
being offered for sale. We
check the voltage, CCA and internal resistance of each battery
with our Sulfarid battery analyser. Finally we test the capacity and
state of the battery with a load tester' These procedures ensures that
our batteries can last 2 or more years in your car.
The reason why you don't see many battery clinics around the country is
because the process of making a GOOD restored battery is time consuming
and difficult. We will expand the battery clinic network when we can
train personnel and gurantee the quality of batteries produced in these
branches.
We carry four sizes of batteries classified by their length
Small - 200 mm
( NS40 and European
Din 44)
Medium - 230 mm
(NS60 and European Din 55)
Large - 260 mm
(NS70
and European Din 66)
X
large - 300 mm (NS70Z and European Din
77 plus)
We also have in stock the more uncommon side terminal and low profile batteries.
Restored Marine and Deep Cycle
The main difference between deep
cycle batteries and
cranking batteries are the lead plates, which are solid in deep-cycle
batteries and composed of grid lattice like plates in starting
batteries.
Some batteries that are labelled "deep-cycle" do not possess
these solid lead plates. Also called marine starting batteries they are
designed to be used for starting and deep cycle purposes.
A deep-cycle battery is designed to discharge down to as
much as 20% of its charge capacity over several cycles, marine start
batteries should not be discharged beyond 50% of its
capacity.
We test deep cycle batteries we restore by putting it through a test
discharge to determine it's capacity.
We carry all sizes from 45 ah to 200 ah.
These batteries after restoration are sought
after as battery banks in boats and caravans or in older electric
forklifts.
Restored Gels and AGM
Gels
and
AGM
batteries
are
sealed
batteries.
Unlike
maintenance
free
batteries
they
can
be placed on their side. Overcharging will cause
water to be vented reducing the life of these batteries as this water
cannot be replaced. Some manufacturers claim that they can recombine hydrogen and oxygen with their hydro caps. This is unlikely as hydrogen burns (combine with oxygen) with a blue flame.
Many of the AGM and GEL batteries that we restore and recondition have been used in expensive yacth and ups systems. Batteries used in UPS systems are not cycled and therefore have a great deal of life left in them. These are sold at only a fraction of their replacement price ut will last and work like new. If you are careful not to overcharge or overdischarge these batteries they will last a long time. Self discharge rate of AGM batteries is about 1 - 2 % a month.
Restored Traction
These are 2 volt cells used in forklifts. It takes us a long time, up to 2 eeeks to restore these cells as the amount of material on the plates is much higher than for regular batteries. We restore and recondition these cells to use in replacing dead cells in traction batteries.Restored Storage
We have a wide range of batteries for off grid battery bank
installations. These batteries are
usually in very good condition after desulphation and will last 5 to 15
years. Desulphation and reconditioning after 5 years will ensure keep
the batteries are kept at full capacity.
